These shorts fit well in all the right places. They have front pleats and a tailored, yet relaxed fit that make them perfect for summer. I paired them with a white A.L.C. crop top with fringe detailing at the hem but you could easily wear them with an easy tank, blazer and flat sandals for a causal look.

I paired this look with my current go-to shoe, the ‘Stecy’ from Steve Madden. I have them in three colors – black, nude and white – and literally wear them everywhere and with everything I own. It’s such a great shoe to have for the summer.

This bag, originally purchased from T.J. Maxx for $50 (yes, for $50) back in January, has become one of my favorite purchases of the year. It’s the perfect size for my wallet, lip gloss, cell phone, sunglasses and keys. I wear it during the day with light colors and at night, with darker colors. Good news – it’s back in stock (full price though) in an array of shapes and styles. Get the one I have here.

Wishing everyone a great Memorial Day! I spent time this weekend with friends and have enjoyed every minute of it – especially since I have a crazy, busy week ahead!

Every corner you turn in Palm Beach, there’s a hidden gem. From colorful homes to paved streets on Worth Ave. and all the lush landscaping, Palm Beach is arguably one of the most charming towns to live in Florida… and one of my favorite places to take photos.

Chelsae Anne and I discovered this cool walkway tucked behind some shops on South County Rd. The lighting was excellent and the architecture provided an excellent backdrop for today’s post.

When I first started blogging, I covered mostly affordable fashion. Since then, I’ve shifted my focus to cover both affordable fashion and contemporary fashion because there are times to spend and times to save.

Fleeting trends, like overalls (I can’t guys… I just can’t), come and go, but “closet classics” will always be here to stay.

_MG_1161_EditThese cotton shorts from Joie via Saks Fifth Avenue in Boca Raton are woven with a traveler-chic pattern, are comfy and look great with a soft button down, basic white tee or a light blue top. You can dress them up or dress them down – regardless you’ll have them for a lifetime.

I haven’t stopped wearing this crossbody bag since my mom gave it to me a couple of months ago from a local consignment store. It’s the perfect size and fits everything I carry.

There are pieces one should splurge on and pieces ones should save. A trendy look might be all over magazines, but unless you’re 100% sure about it, you probably shouldn’t break the bank to recreate it.

I’m a firm believer that sometimes it’s worth the extra investment when it comes to your wardrobe – especially if you plan to wear those pieces often.

This crop top is a favorite because it fits well and can be worn in so many different ways. The same could be said about this pair of adorable, high-waisted shorts, which are sure to brighten up any day.

Pair this look with nude sandals and a cork clutch or wear it with leather sandals, a chunky necklace and a cute hat.

Wear it with:

British shoe designer, Sophia Webster, caught her big break when she earned an apprenticeship with footwear legend, Nicholas Kirkwood. Her experience, combined with her wildly original designs and playful use of colors allowed her to launch her debut collection in 2013, which since, has gained rapid success and won quite the following among fashion bloggers, socialites and celebs like, Blake Lively, Katy Perry and Kendall Jenner. Amidst her growing business, remarkably, she’s been able to maintain balance in her life as a wife and mother to her precious daughter. And at 29 years old, she exudes an impressive level of grace and humility.

Impressed yet? I was!

Last week, I sat down with Webster at Saks Fifth Avenue in Boca Raton to chat shoes, the future of her brand and how to get into the fashion world.

Me: Your shoes are so bold and unique. Where do you find your inspiration?

SW: Art is definitely a big inspiration. I studied Fine Arts before studying shoes so I find inspiration in artists like Jackson Pollock, Henri Rousseau and Henri Matisse. For the Spring/Summer 2015 Collection, I looked at Rousseau’s jungle scenes. Having never been to the jungle, he created what he imagined a jungle would look like. That’s how I put this collection together. It’s inspired by the jungle and by the things I would have in my jungle like watermelons, pineapples, flamingos, wild flowers and leopard prints.

I’m also inspired by East London’s atmosphere because it’s such a diverse area with street art and graffiti. And nature, too! You can find the most amazing patterns hidden in things… like butterfly wings, tropical fish and birds.

Your use of color is amazing. Do you think that’s something that will continue carry throughout your work?

SW: Yes, it’s an important part of the brand. It’s something women gravitate to if they love color. But there’s also a part of the collection that’s paired back. I’ve started to create more evening styles that are classic and sophisticated because it’s important to have a diverse collection that caters to every aspect of a woman’s personality. One day she might want to make a statement, the next day she might want to be minimal…

Me: Do you design with a specific woman in mind?

SW: When I first started, I had a specific woman in mind but the more I learned about the buying nature of women, the more that’s changed. I didn’t have any shoes to wear when I was pregnant because my feet literally doubled in size. That’s when I realized it wasn’t always practical to wear heels and designed flat sandals and sneakers into my collections.

I like to think the brand appeals to a woman that understands femininity and sensibility, and appreciate shoes that are creative and sassy…

Me: And doesn’t take herself too seriously!

SW: Definitely!

Me: What can we expect to see from you this year?

SW: This has been a big year, but there’s still so much left! I launched a new collection of bridal shoes and baby shoes, inspired by my little one, this year. I’m also working on developing handbags that are more functional. My evening collection is scheduled to debut October/November. I’m also designing sneakers for the first time and turning my most coveted winged heel into a pair of pointy-toe flats. I also hope to have a store open in London later this year.

Webster designed a shoe exclusively for Saks, named the “Chiara.” It incorporates her signature-winged heel with Saks Fifth Avenue colors, black and white.

Me: What do you know now that you wish you knew at 21?

SW: I honestly don’t think I would do anything differently. You have to make mistakes to learn from them. There are definitely things I regret in my life… like outfits and shoe choices… but I don’t think I would take any of that back. That’s life and that’s part of growing up.

Me: Any advice for young girls who want to get into fashion?

SW: With social media and how well connected the world is, now is the best time to put yourself out there. Start a blog or a website, collect images of things you like and find your voice so you can discover who you are and what you want to do. When I knew it shoes for me, I drew them every single day. I was obsessed…

Know when to take a good opportunity even if it means making cups of tea or sweeping the floors for a designer, it’s important to expose yourself to that kind of environment. You can’t be a creative director over night. You have to start from the very bottom to make it to the top…

My style is constantly changing. Back in the day, I wore basics. When I started my blog, I wore color and lots of loud accessories. Now, I’m all about sophisticated tops, distressed denim, prints, high waisted shorts, sexy heels – mixed in with tropical accents (if that makes any sense?). But one thing remains the same throughout all of this – my love for color…

This skirt from Shabby Apple totally embodies that. It’s colorful, vibrant and stands out on it’s own. I paired it with a simple tee to keep the focus on the colorful print and with my go-to strappy sandals to add some height.

This skirt hits at the natural waist so if you want it to be high-waisted, be sure to take it to a tailor.

A good lip color can accent your makeup and act as an accessory to your look. From sophisticated shades of pink to flattering nudes, there’s a wide range of lipsticks to choose from.

Thanks to the makeup experts at Lancôme in Bloomingdale’s, I learned more about how to keep your pout fresh and fancy, and what shades work best for my hair color and skin tone.

Be sure to apply a hydrating lip balm, like this one from Lancôme, before applying your lipstick. This will help prevent the lip color from absorbing into your lips.

(pictured before)

To help your pout stand out, be sure to use a lip plumper.

Use a lip liner to make your lipstick last throughout the day and to prevent feathering and bleeding. Be sure to use a shade that’s similar to your lipstick color or a clear one.

After you’ve applied your lip liner, apply your lipstick. You can use a brush or if you’re like me and always in a rush, directly from the tube.

If you’re a brunette with light to medium skin, this color from Lancôme is great for daytime look. I LOVED it! Get it now here.

(pictured after)

Finishing touches:

For high shine, dab a hint of gloss to the center of your lips and smack together. Not only will this create the illusion of fuller lips, but also take your lip color to the next level.

Love this lip look? Get the entire collection for under $100 below.

And be sure to join me, the gals from Palm Beach Lately and Alyson, from The Average Girl’s Guide, this Thursday, May 7 from 6-8PM for a fun night of beauty at Bloomingdale’s in Palm Beach Gardens. Stop by for light bites, complimentary hair styling and lots of beauty goodies. Hope to see you there!

Jogger Love

If there’s one trend I can’t get enough of this year, it’s joggers. I bought this pair at H&M a million years ago and immediately fell in love because of how comfortable they were (many pairs have an elastic waist) and how the silhouette showed off my shoes, without having to hem anything.

To offset the bagginess of these pants, I tend to wear them with heels, but you can also wear them with slides. A classic tank tucked in, like this one from Splendid via Marshalls, looks great for a chic look. You can also pair it with a crop top.

Find a similar pair of joggers above and below.

Happy Sunday!
