Hey guys!

Yesterday I showed you how I pack.

Today I’m showing you what to wear when traveling.

A silk-blend jacket is the way to go. It’s light yet warm which makes it perfect for chilly destinations. I bought this one at H&M but found a similar one here.

Photo Jul 27, 7 08 24 PM

Believe it or not, these jeans are super comfortable. They suck you in at all the right places. Plus, they look chic with just about everything in my closet.

Photo Jul 27, 7 06 49 PM

And this tote! I found it at Marshalls and love it because it functions as a cute bag AND an amazing carry on. I can fit so much in here – like my laptop + necessities + one outfit.

Photo Jul 27, 7 06 11 PM

Photo Jul 27, 7 06 35 PM

Most times, I bring a pair of flats with me to walk around the airport. But I also like to have a pair of heels handy just in case I go out when I land.

I’ve never been the type of person to wear pajamas and flip-flops to the airport for two reasons – 1.) having a dad who’s a pilot meant we had to adhere to a dress code when traveling and 2.) because I think there’s something to be said about a woman who dresses well to travel.

The outfit you wear to the airport is also the first thing you’ll have on when you sit next to that super cute guy on the plane or when you arrive to your destination. So why risk it and put little effort into your look? You never know who’ll you run into!

In honor of your upcoming summer travels, I decided to do a post on travel style…

STEP 1: Figure out what to wear on your trip.

Photo Jul 27, 6 30 00 PM

Don’t get me started on that closet. It’s a sore subject. I basically live in a closet.

STEP 2: Pack versatile items (ex. jeans or a light jacket that goes with everything or solid colored tops) that allow you to mix and match with everything you bring.

STEP 3: Take a break.

STEP 4: Keep packing…

WEEKENDER: (c/o) J. McLaughlin/OVERSIZED TOTE: (c/o) Marshalls – GREAT ONE HERE

Most of my clothing goes in a weekender or suitcase. My necessities + one outfit go in a large tote just in case I get stranded in a random city.

True story – I’ve been stranded in Salt Lake City, Lima, Vancouver, NYC, Puerto Rico with nothing but a phone charger, wallet and a magazine more times than I can remember because I checked my bag.

Now, I pack my carry on like a BOSS.

STEP 5: Take another break.

STEP 6: And when you’re ready, change into your travel getup.

Which will be on the blog tomorrow! Stay tuned…

_MG_6589_Edit (1)

I took a big button down shirt from Splendid via Saks Fifth Avenue Boca Raton and loosely tucked it in to a pair of ripped shorts for a casual effect. I also made sure to choose denim shorts that sit slightly higher on my waist and a pair of heels to make my legs look longer.

_MG_6597_Edit

_MG_6619_Edit

I picked accessories that complimented this outfit to make it more chic. These Joie heels, for example make the outfit more interesting. I love the suede fringe detail and the ankle and the sexy single toe strap. Since getting them, I’ve worn them a ton!

And this bag! Guys – it’s less than $50! Can you believe? I feel like it looks so expensive.

With fun beach days, stacks of books to read and sunset sails with friends, I think summer is undeniably one of the best times of the year. But the heat on the other hand, is not that great for style. And as predicted, it’s only getting hotter.

IMG_1828 (1)

Simple tasks like getting dressed are getting harder, especially if you’re trying to look pulled together.

IMG_1812 (1)

So what do you do when there’s dates to be had… weekends to have fun… weddings to attend?

IMG_1814

You opt for easy-to-pull-on styles.

IMG_1810 (1)

Like this dress from Chic Wish. A pretty tropical print plus an off-the-shoulder silhouette means you can wear it day or night. It keeps you cool, but is still feminine and cute.

IMG_1811 (1)

I cinched it in with a belt to define my waistline, but you can wear it without one. Both ways are chic.

Did I mention this dress is only $55?

This past weekend felt more like a marathon than a sprint. From work to traveling, I’m beat. Maybe I’m getting sick. Or maybe it was the fact that I celebrated two birthdays this weekend. Okay – who are we kidding – it’s definitely because I celebrated two birthdays this weekend. [insert 5 wine emojis here]

On Thursday, I attended a RewardStyle class on blogging in South Beach. Then, on Friday, my friend Joanna and I had a joint birthday party at one of my favorite wine bars, The Blind Monk. It was relaxed and so great catching up with friends all night. I spent Saturday morning at Miami Swim Week and the rest of the evening celebrating my birthday with my best friend, Jenny, back in Palm Beach at Avocado Grill and HMF. I couldn’t have asked for a better weekend.

Today’s look reflects exactly how I feel right now – easy going. These shorts are comfortable and these sandals are chic yet very versatile.

Try wearing these Hevelli gladiator sandals from Vince Camuto with a romper and lots of gold jewelry to play up the pinhead studs and gold heel, or wear them with a t-shirt, blazer and skinny jeans.

(Switched bags here… At first, I styled it with a straw tote. Then, with a black and gold envelope clutch.)

On that note, Vince Camuto recently interviewed me for their blog, The Crest. Be sure to check out to learn a little more about my background, my pet peeves and… well…me! Stay tuned to see it!

TOP: Asos/SKIRT: Saks Fifth Avenue/SANDALS: Forever 21 – Save, Spend, Splurge/CLUTCH: (old) – Save, Spend, Splurge

A great outfit has a clear focal point. Meaning, there’s one piece that stands out on its own and everything else kind of revolves around that.

Photo Jun 30, 7 06 53 PM

A bag, pair of shoes, statement necklace or skirt can make a simple outfit look outstanding. It’s all about figuring out what you like and how to showcase your style through that. I happen to love prints and accessories. Some pick quality materials. Others like trends.

Photo Jun 30, 7 09 03 PM

Photo Jun 30, 7 13 16 PM

And then there are people who miss out on the opportunity to showcase their personality through their outfits because they are too scared to stand out. If you’re one of those people, please change. Right here. Right now.

Style is all about showcasing who you are. Don’t send the wrong the message and neglect it. Sometimes the first impression is everything.

Oscar de la Renta once said, “Fashion is about dressing according to what’s fashionable. Style is more about being yourself.”

Photo Jun 30, 7 07 11 PM

So, where to start? Easy. Pick one piece and work from there.

Photo Jun 30, 7 17 50 PM

With this look, I kept the focal point on my skirt by wearing a basic crop top, matching clutch and neutral sandals.

Photo Jun 30, 7 15 35 PM

Photo Jun 30, 7 14 19 PM

Feel daring? Try wearing the matching crop top this skirt or dress, but be sure to downplay the rest.

Photo Jun 30, 7 08 38 PM

When searching for a statement piece, look for brands that use quality materials like neoprene (pictured) or silk or leather. With proper care, a quality piece can last you a lifetime… or season… depending on how bad your shopping addiction is. 😉

Photo Jun 30, 7 11 15 PM

A statement piece can also help take your wardrobe to the next level. And spur you to completely change your style.

In case you missed it, there’s a #FabTravelingBag from Marshalls that’s traveling all over the country from one Project Fab bloggers to the next. It’s been everywhere from California to New York City to Charlotte. This week, it’s with me in West Palm Beach…

IMG_1096

Facetune (21)

I took it to one of my favorite spots – the Lake Trail in Palm Beach over the weekend. Lake Trail is a small trail that runs along the Intracoastal near some of the most beautiful homes on the island. It’s great to run, bike or chill out at sunset. It’s also a great spot to snap a picture of the city of West Palm Beach.

_MG_5499_Edit

Since moving to West Palm Beach, I’ve fallen in love with this city over and over again. There are so many cool, unique places everywhere you turn and the beach is like literally… five minutes away from my apartment so it rocks. I’ve also met some incredible people. I feel very, very blessed to live in such a beautiful city.

Facetune (20)

For today’s look, I wore a chambray wrap dress with Steve Madden wedges compliments of Marshalls.

Yay! It’s Friday! And I’m so in love…

WITH Elizabeth and James!

I swear. Every time I wear this label, I receive compliments.

If you’re unfamiliar with Elizabeth and James, think Cali cool with easy silhouettes…

Facetune (17)

Facetune (18)

There’s something about the way they tailor their clothing to fit a woman’s body and hug curves in the right places that make their dresses stand out and worth the investment.

Facetune (19)

Being petite, it’s pretty hard for me to find clothing that I don’t have to alter. So when I find a label that works well for my body type, I stick to it forever.

That said, I’m sticking to Elizabeth and James for like… ever.

I love this peach-y dress because it can easily transition from casual with a pair of gladiator sandals to chic with nude heels. It’s also very comfortable and a great option for an outdoor wedding or a rooftop party.

BLOUSE: Saks Fifth Avenue/SHORTS: (old) – SIMILAR/GLADIATORS: Forever 21 – Save, Spend, Splurge/BAG: Saks Fifth Avenue/NECKLACE: Very Allegra/SUNNIES: (c/o) Tory Burch

July 1st officially marked the first half of the year, and much like the beginning of the year, this is a great time to hit refresh and map out what you want for the rest of the year. It’s also my birthday month. AH! [freaking out]

Whether you’ve decided to get fit, save up and buy that amazing Chloé ‘Drew’ medium sized textured-leather shoulder bag in the most beautiful hue of ‘Blush’ (still not there yet), move to a different city this year or find true love, there’s no better time to declare it AGAIN and go after it.

The great thing about having a blog is you can revert back to old posts and see how much has changed. While I’m not in the place where I thought I’d be today, I’m one step closer. But that’s life, right?!

For today’s post, I looked back at what I said in my “New Year, New Me” post. Here’s what I declared…

  1. Save up and buy a great bag. – Work In Progress
  2. Visit my tailor more often. – Check.
  3. Buy quality pieces and build a wardrobe around them. – Check.
  4. Embrace change. – TRIPLE CHECK.
  5. Amp up my skincare routine. – Check. Check. Thanks First Aid Beauty!

And ABOVE all…

  1. WEAR FLATS. – check check check! I’ve come a long way guys…

Facetune (5)

_MG_2738_Edit (1)
Today’s outfit was put together courtesy of Saks Fifth Avenue in Boca Raton. I’m wearing a silk peasant blouse from Rebecca Minkoff with lace shorts and gladiators from Forever 21. All three pieces are versatile and perfect for summer.

Facetune (7)

I accessorized it with a perforated bucket bag by Loeffler Randall (love this emerging designer), a Very Allegra statement necklace and retro sunnies.

Hope you guys do the same! It’s refreshing to look back and restart. Trust me!
