Aventura Mall

[Chelsae Anne | Photography]

Almost every weekend, I go shopping or window-shopping. I know, I know… I’m a total #shopaholic. But to me, it’s more than just a hobby. It’s my job! One of the coolest things about being a fashion blogger is that I get to immerse myself in fashion. I do this by regularly visiting department and clothing stores to check out the latest trends. If I find something I love, I grab it! If not, I make a mental note of what’s trending and keep browsing.

Earlier this week, I hung out at Aventura Mall to scope out pre-fall trends. I love this mall. Not because it’s a haven for some of the best boutiques in the area, but because it’s one of the best malls in all of South Florida. From getting my makeup done at MAC Cosmetics to trying on gowns at Pucci to snagging candy at Sugarfina, I had a blast. It was the perfect shopping trip!

On that note…

My first stop was at MAC Cosmetics to get my makeup done. They dusted on “Studio Fix Powder,” with some eye shadow from their “Fashion Pack Eye shadow” palette and topped it off with “Instacurl Lash” mascara. My lip color is “Rich and Restless Liquid Lipcolour” mixed with “Viva Glam Ariana Grande Lipglass.”

Aventura Mall

TREND ALERT: A coral lip. Coral suits many skin tones (including mine with or without a tan!) and complements many looks. It’s hands down one of my favorite lip colors to wear. It’s also fresh and perfect for Florida.

Summertime brings some serious heat to South Florida. During this time of year, I like to wear fabrics that allow for more airflow and coolness. All of 120% Lino’s garments are crafted out of linen that’s breathable , durable, easy to wash and soft to the touch. They’re the perfect pieces for summer! The kind of pieces you can throw in your suitcase and pull out the second you touch down in Italy.

Aventura Mall

TREND ALERT: This adorable white linen dress from their latest collection! I loved it. It’s understated yet luxurious. It’s the kind of piece you can wear to a pool party with a colorful scarf from Hermès or to a chic night out in Miami.

Aventura Mall

In an effort to maintain exclusivity, 120% Lino does not have an online store. You have to visit one of their boutiques to see the collection. Fortunately, there’s one at Aventura Mall!

For as long as I can remember, I’ve always been a big fan of Missoni’s iconic zigzag motifs, geometric patterns and fun stripes. It’s also one of the most respected and loved fashion brands in the world.

Aventura Mall

I browsed the latest M Missoni collection of dresses, tops, pants, skirts and gowns.

Aventura Mall

TREND ALERT: As Vogue contributor Emily Farra put it, “Leave it to M Missoni to find inspiration in the least-likely sport of all: bowling.”

From leather bowling bags to easy shirts to comfy sneakers (as pictured, without the socks), M Missoni rocked this theme! It felt retro. It was charming. And shiny! Literally. One of my favorite pieces, this knit sweater, had a hint of sparkle. Something that carried throughout the rest of the collection.

My next stop was to Emilio Pucci. Another longtime favorite and cult classic for Palm Beachers. I combed through the Fall-Winter 2016-2017 collection; a collection that’s lean, layered and slouchy. It’s graphic and effortless. There’s embroidery, feathers and geometric sequences everywhere. And I’m in heaven…

TREND ALERT: Coral. Enough said. #dying #literallydying

What’s a shopping trip without visiting BCBGMAXAZRIA?!

Aventura Mall

Aventura Mall

With the French adage, “Bon chic, bon genre” (“Good style, good attitude”) behind its iconic name, BCBG clothing evokes both a European feel and sophistication with an American spirit.

_MG_1982

Fun fact: I worked at BCBG while I was in college, but had to quit because I couldn’t afford spending my entire paycheck on clothing every two weeks. #shopaholicprobs

TREND ALERT: When shopping and spotting trends, I tend to gravitate towards pieces that are staples like jeans, jackets, shoes, bags, etc. This studded jacket from their Runway Collection is a great piece for fall. Wear it with metallic shorts (as pictured) and lace (another pre-fall trend) or with a white tee and distressed black jeans.

_MG_2000

To me, lace makes layering interesting. It’s also very sexy! How great is this black lace romper? Throw on a jacket or wear it with sandals. Another great transition piece for fall.

My second to last stop was to the new adidas by Stella McCartney store to pick out some new fitness gear. I found these lightweight metallic shorts and paired them with a sweater that could easily be worn on the weekends with sneakers.

Aventura Mall

TREND ALERT: Cute workout gear! What you wear to the gym sets your mood. And if you’re anything like me, a bad outfit can ruin your day – so be sure to choose wear something you like and that makes you look/feel good to the gym… I.E. check out this store!

Last but not least, candy! Sugarfina, a luxury candy boutique, for a quick pick-me-up.

Aventura Mall

_MG_2146

The idea for Sugarfina was sprouted after the founders went on their third date to see the movie, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. A simple question, “why should kids have all the fun?” led them to create a candy boutique for grown-ups. Which eventually led them to their dream job (taste-testing candy all over the world) to bring you the finest sweets ever!

_MG_2126

Each package is literally packaged with love. The founders are still together. Yes, #relationshipgoals.

Aventura Mall

TREND ALERT: How many times can you give a hostess a candle or bottle of wine?! After awhile, it gets old. So switch things up this fall with a bento box of candy! You can pick and choose which flavors you want. From champagne gummy bears (my favorite) to maple bourbon caramels, there’s a ton to choose from!

Aventura Mall

And for the single ladies out there who need a little pick-me-up, try this one…

Between Swim Week and traveling, I’ve been nonstop lately. Last weekend was nuts. Swim Week felt JUST LIKE Fashion Week except shorter. I bounced from show to show, event to lounge to meeting to event to lounge – like a crazy person! By the end of each night, I looked terrible… my makeup was gone, my mascara was smudged, my hair was frizzy and I had lots of blisters from wearing wedges and heels all night. But whatever, I was just happy to be there and to be around so many of my (new) and old friends! The fashion world is SO small and it’s always such a treat to run into people you haven’t seen in forever.

Anyways, I’m super pumped to finally get a chance to sit down (currently: at Tout Suite in Houston – if you haven’t been there, check it out!), collect my thoughts and share tonight’s look with you! It’s a good one…

Tularosa Amelia Lace Off-the-Shoulder Dress

Tularosa Amelia Lace Off-the-Shoulder Dress

As I mentioned last week, I’ve started to embrace a different kind of style because it’s SO hot in South Florida right now -> tousled hair, natural makeup and little to no jewelry or accessories. Because less is more when it comes to summer heat. Trust me! The last thing you want to deal with is your makeup melting, your jewelry sticking to your body from sweating so much or your clothing getting wrinkled (ugh, major pet peeve of mine).

Photo Jul 21, 10 19 59 PM

This dress, from Tularosa (I know, another one!) via Saks Fifth Avenue Boca Raton is a great option. It runs slightly big so size down if you can. It’s off-the-shoulder, a big trend this year, and won’t wrinkle because of the type of fabric it’s constructed out of. Pair it with gladiator heels (like these, from NA-KDuse code: Bungalow20 for 20% off!) or with lace up sandals.

Hello, bow! Hello, Wednesday! Hello, CRAZY weekend!

SWIMMIAMI (also known as “Swim Week”) officially starts tomorrow! And I’m beyond excited! Tomorrow, I’m attending the opening party at the W Hotel in South Beach. Then, Friday, Saturday and Sunday – I’m attending shows, lounges, events – you name it! I plan to document my journey (and outfits) on Instagram (@thestylebungalow) and Snapchat (@stylebungalow) so be sure to follow along!

Then on Monday (my birthday, whoop whoop!) I’m flying back to Houston to visit my boyfriend and family for a week… PHEW!

Photo Jul 13, 5 11 08 PM

Today’s look is one of my recent favorites! I’m wearing a bow top from NA-KD (use code: Bungalow20 for 20%) and shorts from Milly via Saks Fifth Avenue Boca Raton. Just an FYI – this top runs a little small (it’s cropped) so be sure to order a size up or wear it with high waisted shorts/jeans, if you end up buying it! It’s so adorable!

One more thing! Happy 30th birthday to mi amor in Houston! I love you so much and can’t wait to be with you next week… <3 (Let’s see if he even reads this… Guys, my boyfriend doesn’t even have an Instagram account. #eyeroll #lolz)

Anyways, wishing everyone a great week! Click the links above to shop today’s look…

My Perfect One Piece

Marysia One Piece Swimsuit

BATHING SUIT: (c/o) Marysia via Avenue32

Marysia One Piece Swimsuit

Take it from me, someone who spent many many years in a leotard in ballet classes, the right one piece can balance your body, compliment your skin tone, show off the good stuff and represent your personality. More importantly, it can give you the confidence you need to strut your stuff and feel good about yourself in front of others.

Marysia One Piece Swimsuit

One of my “ballet tricks” was to wear leotards that are cut high on the thigh to make my legs appear longer. I would choose leotards with plunging necklines or with open backs to give the appearance of a nice, long look. This made me look longer and slimmer (I’m only 5’2) and feel beautiful standing next to ballerinas who were taller than me.

Marysia One Piece Swimsuit

I would also wear printed leotards on days where I wanted to camouflage areas like my stomach or tush.

Marysia One Piece Swimsuit

Interestingly, the second I put on this one piece, I thought to myself, “this feels a lot like one of my old favorite leotards that I used to wear all the time.” Then I looked up the designer and voilà…

Marysia One Piece Swimsuit

Marysia One Piece Swimsuit

Marysia One Piece Swimsuit

The designer, Marysia Dobrzanska Reeves, is a former ballerina (who also spent many years in a leotard) and surfing enthusiast (who wore a lot of wetsuits). I knew it! There had to be something special about this suit… because it fit me perfectly!

Marysia One Piece Swimsuit

Marysia’s swimsuits are all about impeccable fit and perfectly executed shapes.

Marysia One Piece Swimsuit

Made from comfortable stretchy printed fabric (that hides a lot), this perfect one piece has a low back and sits slightly higher on my thigh (therefore giving the illusion of longer legs). Wear it on days where you want more coverage or on days where you want to leave a “little to the imagination…”

Ay dios mio! It’s hot in Florida. Like literally, really freaking hot right now. I like to say that summertime in Florida is a lot like the northeast during the wintertime. Everyone stays inside from 11 to 3PM. There is no way you’re leaving your house unless you absolutely have to! Otherwise your hair falls flat, your makeup runs and your clothing starts to wrinkle. Not. Good. For. A. Fashion. Blogger.

Joie Owen Cotton Gauze Embroidered Tank

Slowly but surely, I’ve started to embrace my messy hair, natural makeup (sometimes just a lip + highlighter + mascara) flowy pieces and lightweight fabrics. Whatever!

Joie Owen Cotton Gauze Embroidered Tank

A tank like this one, by Joie via Saks Fifth Avenue Boca Raton, is light, airy and delicate – perfect for the South Florida heat. It’s beautifully detailed… is slightly sheer (making it a little sexy) and breezy when caught in the wind. You can wear a lace bandeau bra underneath it (i.e. more freedom in the heat, #nojudgement) or with a nude bra. It’s also sleeveless (because extra fabric is NOT your friend this time of year) and can easily be dressed up with white jeans or dressed down with a white bikini.

Joie Owen Cotton Gauze Embroidered Tank

Joie Owen Cotton Gauze Embroidered Tank

Joie Owen Cotton Gauze Embroidered Tank

I bought these lace shorts a million years ago from Saks Off 5th. I’ve worn them a bunch because they’re ultra-light and slightly nicer than jean shorts. Unfortunately, they’re no longer available online; click here and here for similar styles.

AND YES, I love hats this time of year. I know, I know… I’ve worn this one in like EVERY single outfit post lately. It’s just that a hat is – A.) the quickest way to cover up flat hair, B.) super chic and C.) a great way to shield your face from the sun. (Let me know if you guys want me to do a roundup post on my favorite hats this summer!)

Joie Owen Cotton Gauze Embroidered Tank

Closed-toe shoes are almost too hot to wear right now. And no, I’m not wearing flip-flips either. So, instead – I opted for these black lace-up wedges from Topshop to complete the look! Get ready, you’ll see them a bunch this month. I love them so much!

Wishing everyone a cool, easy week ahead! I’m gearing up for a busy one – Swim Week starts this Thursday in Miami Beach and I can’t wait to share it with you guys!

Decided to post another adorable piece from the Tularosa collection via Saks Fifth Avenue Boca Raton! The second I tried on this romper, I knew it would be perfect for the blog. Not only does it fit my small frame perfectly (runs small) but also super easy to style and wear.

This romper is made from soft fabric and designed to fit loosely. It ties at the top and is slightly nipped in at the waist to accentuate your figure.

Wear it with flats for day or evening (these are from Forever 21, shop a similar (and slightly nicer quality) pair here and here) or over a bathing suit. Either way, it’s a great option for vacation or South Florida!

DRESS: (c/o) Saks Fifth Avenue/SHOES: (c/o) NA-KD Fashion/SUNNIES: here and here

Phew. What a week. From West Palm Beach to Boston to Detroit to Houston to Ft. Lauderdale, I’m happy to be back but missing my love in Texas. I can’t believe it’s already July! This year has flown by!

If you know me, you know I love lace. Especially white lace! This has to be like the millionth lace dress I’ve featured on the blog, but whatever – I can’t get enough of it! I’m a firm believer in wearing what makes you happy! And lace makes me happy!

This mini is by For Love & Lemons via Saks Fifth Avenue Boca Raton. It’s fully lined with off-the-shoulder ruffles and boning on the sides of the dress that instantly flatter your figure. Rock it with ankle boots (if you’re in the city) and a leather jacket or with strappy heels (if you’re going to Swim Week Miami next week, like me!).

The Style Bungalow

For those of you wondering, I’m 5’2 and am wearing a size XS! It fits me perfectly. So if you’re tall, I suggest sizing up for length otherwise you’ll show a little toooo much leg! (This dress runs short).
