At 15, I left high school at 1PM every day to take ballet classes (yes, it was approved). At 17, I got accepted into my dream school – dream scholarship included. Weeks before moving into my dorm room, I told my parents I wasn’t going to college. Instead, I wanted to be a professional dancer (even though I was told it was impossible to do). At 19, I did it. I accepted a job with a small ballet company and moved to West Palm Beach. At 21, I got burnt out, quit dancing, traveled and went back to school. At 24, I got a job in public relations. Hated it. At 25, I started a blog – petrified at the thought of putting myself out there on a daily basis (I’m quite shy at heart). At 26, I left my PR job. Freelanced. Made some mistakes. At 27, I declared I would make “The Style Bungalow” my full-time job by the end of the year. Which I did… in April.

Yes, this is what I do now. It’s not a steady 9-5 job. So what? I’m unconventional.

Run, don’t walk. Just kidding. You did that Friday. Pause. Pull it together. Take a deep breath. Tell your boss you’re “tied up” then fix yourself another cup of coffee. Lock the door behind you. And whip out that credit card, ladies. It’s the second best day of the year. It’s Cyber Monday. Which means everything on the internet is ON SALE – today.

Most people prefer to share travel experiences with a friend or partner. Personally, my most cherished memories were traveling solo. As I mentioned in “Viva Mexico Pt. 1,” traveling alone can be life-changing and just as rewarding. Imagine reading in a bungalow while it rains or watching the sunset from your balcony with a glass of wine or taking yourself out to a nice dinner without having to make conversation with someone. It’s nice. You can be introspective; bringing you face to face with your thoughts. You can revel in your selfishness. Save money and so much more… which is why I urge you to make at least one solo trip in your lifetime.

As someone who used to spend hours staring at the computer screen, deleting then retyping over and over and over again the perfect “pitch” to editors and writers, I know how difficult it is to be recognized in a newspaper let alone in a major magazine. Since having that job in public relations, I’ve learned to treasure (and celebrate) each and every moment where my blog gets featured on a website, in a magazine or on TV (yes, TV. More on that later. [insert moment of shock here]).

Hola from Mexico! This past week, I’ve been hanging out in Cancun soaking up sunshine. From the beach to the food to the people, everything has been so wonderful. More on that later…

So, bear with me. Today’s post will seem strange (at first) but make sense in the end. I promise.

Everyone has their specific “going out” routine. Mine happens to be:

Turns on “No Scrubs” by TLC. Grabs straightener. Sits in sink (yes, in SINK). Puts on lipstick. Grabs heels. Throws on sexy romper. Calls Uber. Walks in feeling energized. Clinks glass. Let the holiday festivities begin!
