Handbags are a necessity. Not just an accessory. #snapsnap

Every woman needs a good one. A bag that’s fashionable. Durable. Stylish. Convenient. And big enough to tote around a little bit of everything wherever they go – phones, keys, wallets, makeup, sunglasses, extra pair of heels, entire kitchen sink. Or if you’re like me, hold the bare minimum.

But with so many brands out there, how do you narrow it down to a good one?

Last year while working with a client on a new wardrobe, I suggested she check out Gigi New York for handbags. I didn’t own a Gigi bag at the time. But I knew the quality was great from blogger friends who were obsessed with them so I felt comfortable enough suggesting it to her. She glanced at the site. Fell in love with a couple options. And next thing you know, another diehard fan.

Gigi’s leather comes from some of the best suppliers in the world. Their bags and accessories are timeless. Their colors are fresh and vibrant. And their price points are affordable (low to mid hundreds) considering the quality is on par with luxury bags that have price tags with commas in them. Seriously. You can find everything from streamlined shoulder bags to leather hobos to one-of-a-kind natural haircalf clutches within their line. There’s bound to be a dream bag in there for you somewhere! (Mine happens to be this rose python crossbody!)

But that’s not all Gigi New York handbags are good for – they’re also super easy to style. One of the brands most popular designs is the “All In One” clutch – an elegant bag offered in so many different colors that can easily transition from day-to-night. Today (yes, today!) they released their latest line, resort. And this multicolored Havana clutch is from the new collection. I mean, isn’t it totes cute?! Check out more options here.

Having said all of this, let’s shift our attention back to – finding a good brand. One surefire way to find a good bag is to start with the quality of the materials. You’ll also want to find good construction and a versatile design – something that can be worn season to season. I also look for color. A pop of color is more versatile than a neutral like, black or tan. Color can be worn with all colors. Whereas black should be worn with black. Tan with tan. Etc.

Whatever your handbag intentions may be, definitely check out Gigi New York’s selection. It’s a brand that meets all of my bag requirements! Ay… and besides, a woman can never have too many bags. Right?! #duh

My Beautiful Bookcase!

Hey guys! Happy almost-Halloween!

In this week’s video with Wayfair, I’m showing you how I’ve transformed my entryway bookcase into a showstopping focal point in my studio apartment using knick-knacks from my travels, magazines, books and more!

Just wanted to say thank you SO much to everyone who tuned in these past six weeks. It’s been such a pleasure and so much fun to share my apartment with you guys. Adding video content to my blog was so scary for me (because I absolutely dread speaking in front of the camera) but when all said and done, 100% worth it. I feel like I’ve grown so much since my first video and can’t wait to do more!

Anyways, I hope you’ve enjoyed this partnership with Wayfair (big thank you to the Wayfair team for choosing me to be apart of such an amazing group of Youtubers). You can subscribe here for more videos on home decor. And as always, please feel free to share your feedback in the comment section (like, what videos you would like to see next) below! Have a safe weekend!

Lots of love today!

Trend Spotting Tips!

Everyone may live in the same apartment building, with the same floor plan, same boring white walls, same view, but the arrangement of the objects you put in it will make it your own. In today’s video with Wayfair, I’m sharing one of my favorite ways to inject personality into a blank space – through mixing colors, prints and patterns! Enjoy!

Lights, Camera, Action!

Hey guys, welcome back! Today I’m celebrating my best friend’s wedding in beautiful Vancouver (congrats Mel & Elliot, love you both!) but wanted to quickly share some exciting news!

For the next 6 weeks, I’m partnering up with Wayfair to bring you 6 Youtube videos featuring my teeny tiny apartment in West Palm Beach. From mixing patterns to bedding to fall floral arrangements, I’m sharing my insider tips on what to do, where to get some of my favorite home décor items and what’s trending…

Full disclosure: When I first started my blog, I made it very clear that I would never do Youtube videos because I’m so shy in front of the camera. When Wayfair reached out with the idea, I almost said no because I was terrified speaking in front of the camera! Instead of running away from my fears, I decided to put on my big-girl pants, muster up a little confidence and go for it! My first video is shaky but as I move on throughout the videos, you’ll see I become more and more comfortable in front of the camera.

So, without further ado, here’s Video #1! I hope you enjoy…

Check back next Saturday for the next video on pattern mixing! And big thank you to my amazing photographer, Chelsae Anne, for pushing me to do this and coaching me along the way! I’m off to my best friend’s wedding!

Mini-Refresh

Joss & Main - The Style Bungalow

[Chelsae Anne | Photography]

When it comes to decorating my studio apartment (click here to see a full tour), I take small steps. Simple things like rearranging my coffee table display, switching out my old rug for a new one, changing my bedding, adding a new piece of artwork to my collection can totally change the look and feel of my apartment.

That’s because tiny floor plans, like mine (my apartment is less than 500 sq. ft.), don’t allow for a lot of wiggle room when it comes to rearranging furniture. Everything counts in a small space. Just moving my coffee tables or placing my accent chair in a different spot or rearranging my decorative items can completely change the flow.

Most people think they have to go out and buy new coffee tables or a new TV stand to refresh their space. But Nope. No need to do so. Like I said, take small steps, like buying a new rug, and you’ll see how much it surprisingly can make a difference, especially if you’re living in a studio apartment like me.

Case in point – check out this picture of my “living room” with my old rug.

Joss & Main - The Style Bungalow

Here’s what it looks like with my new rug, from Joss & Main’s latest sale (yes, they are having a big sale right now):

Immediately, it feels lighter and brighter!

Here’s an old picture of my “TV area”…

Joss & Main - The Style Bungalow

And here’s what it looks like now, with the addition of a new piece of artwork. Again, it’s lighter and within seconds, changes the look of the entire setup.

I also moved around a couple knick knacks on my coffee table and added these adorable elephant bookends!

Adding plants doesn’t hurt too. Plants and flowers are inexpensive and don’t take up a lot of room. Plus, they add a nice pop of color and make a room look interesting. And not to mention, make you smile when you wake up in the morning.

Joss & Main - The Style Bungalow

I buy myself flowers once a week! It’s worth it. But that’s about the extent of my gardening abilities. Since I’m in and out a lot, it’s hard for me to take care of living plants (with the exception of bouquets that I can toss out in a week). So, I found this set of three faux-agave (yes, faux plants) from Joss & Main that look like the real thing. You can’t tell from a distance!

I will say, on the brighter side of things, living in a small space means having less stuff – less furniture to deal with, less clutter, less mess! You learn to become very efficient. Everything you buy must serve a purpose!
