Is it hot in South Florida or what?! Sometimes, when it’s this hot outside, all I want to wear is a cotton t-shirt with cutoff shorts. But since that’s not always an option (think: lunch dates), I decided to feature this look – which, in my opinion, is a slight step up to a causal summer-style look.
The key to a successful summer outfit is to PLAN in advance. Take time to think about what pieces you need to create an easy look that’s both chic and cool (literally). I’m talking linen (which, truth be told, isn’t my favorite fabric to wear because it easily wrinkles – but ladies, let’s be real, keeps you cool), practical sandals, straw hats and a cute bag.
I recently found this floating crop top on Shopbop by an Aussie brand called Nice Martin. I liked it because it felt effortless, breezy and modern. Something I could see myself wearing with cropped pants (as pictured) or cutoff shorts. It had a relaxed fit – a bit generous in size – so I had it tailored. Totally worth it. Find more options here.
To me, these chinos from Ann Taylor offer a bit more polish than cutoff shorts. Something about these pants instantly elevate this look from super causal to classic, not to mention are incredibly chic and comfortable enough to wear on a summer day.
(Side note, I love wearing cropped jeans/pants because my hips are wider than my upper body. Cropped pants provide a top-to-bottom balance. Plus, help show off my shoes!)
Oh! And these sandals from Banana Republic. Ugh. So cute, right?! They’re cushioned for all-day comfort. The kind of sandals you can run around town in. Promise, the second you buy them – the compliments will start rolling in! So adorable!
Happy Monday everyone!
