After a busy weekend in Dallas, I returned to Florida needing rest and relaxation. My voice was completely gone (from a terrible cold) and I was beat. My tiny studio apartment was a disaster (from packing, unpacking, packing, unpacking). I had a TON of unanswered emails. Not to mention, the amount work ahead of me that week. I desperately needed to recharge.

Miami is one of the best places to visit in the wintertime, so it’s no surprise that there are plenty of amazing hotels to choose from. Since my photographer, Chelsae Anne, and I are always up for an adventure and a new location to shoot at, we decided to take a staycation to Miami and stay in a new hotel. Our choice? The Ritz-Carlton Bal Harbour.

From the second we arrived to the very last minute, we were spoiled, pampered and at home. The property, nestled on the corner of North Miami Beach has an incredible spa, a great restaurant and offers access to one of Miami’s most exclusive addresses, Bal Harbour. We spent lazy days taking in the pool from our very own private cabana (complete with a cute pool boy, bartender and private attendant) to enjoying the beach from our private terrace with breathtaking views. Here are more of the highlights…

To me, it’s the small things that matter the most when staying at a hotel. It’s the glass of champagne when I walk in the entrance. The chocolates on my bed. The Vogue magazine (my favorite) on my dresser. The delicious fresh squeezed juice in the morning. The surprise facial at Exhale Spa. The rose petals in my bathtub. Everyone knowing my name. (True story. Everyone at the hotel knew my name!) Complimentary transportation to dinner in Bal Harbour. The late check-out. Often, it’s those small things that make an experience… spectacular for me. And every part of it was amazing.

When it comes to service, the Ritz-Carlton is always outstanding (this isn’t my first stay. I’ve stayed at many Ritz-Carlton locations!). It’s what sets it apart from other luxury hotels. Never over the top, just enough to make you feel comfortable and at home. Small tweaks and surprise additions to your stay to make your life easier. As if the staff is always one step ahead of you.

Thank you again, Ritz-Carlton for the stay! It’s my new favorite place to stay in Bal Harbour!

Xo, Stephanie

Most people prefer to share travel experiences with a friend or partner. Personally, my most cherished memories were traveling solo. As I mentioned in “Viva Mexico Pt. 1,” traveling alone can be life-changing and just as rewarding. Imagine reading in a bungalow while it rains or watching the sunset from your balcony with a glass of wine or taking yourself out to a nice dinner without having to make conversation with someone. It’s nice. You can be introspective; bringing you face to face with your thoughts. You can revel in your selfishness. Save money and so much more… which is why I urge you to make at least one solo trip in your lifetime.

Marriott Solo Travel Series Pt. 2 - The Style Bungalow

Anyways, as part of Marriott’s “Solo Traveler Series,” my photographer and I visited two hotel properties in Cancun to document the “Solo Travel” experience. The first part of our trip was to CasaMagna Cancun Resort & Hotel. The second part was to JW Marriott Cancun Resort & Hotel

Marriott Solo Travel Series Pt. 2 - The Style Bungalow

Both properties were conveniently connected by a bridge and between the two, offered plenty of options for dining, outdoor activities and more. Our days consisted of early morning shoots (TIP: if you’re a blogger, aim to shoot in the morning that way you can beat the crowds), breakfast by the beach, beach and more beach, a couple Pina Coladas, beach, fabulous dinners and nights talking, laughing and reminiscing until the wee hours of the night. It was much needed.

Both of our rooms had a shower and a bathtub as well as a beautiful balcony overlooking the pools and beach. Every night, I would open my balcony doors, sit outside and take it all in. This was especially beautiful on the night of the supermoon!

A couple weeks ago, my photographer and I said “yes” to a week-long trip to Cancun, Mexico. We didn’t really think about it, we just booked it. The idea? To travel solo.

While my trip wasn’t as courageous as it could have been (I didn’t exactly “travel solo,” I brought my photographer with me to help document the trip.), I had plenty of time by myself to reflect and just be.

As a full-time blogger (and former ballerina who used to travel all over the country for auditions ), I’ve taken a lot of trips on my own, and I’ve learned that it’s a lot easier than you think. Traveling alone (especially as a woman) can be life changing, empowering and rewarding. In fact, it’s pretty liberating if you ask me. When you travel alone, you get make your own schedule (too often, we hold back on what we really want to do because of who we are traveling with), you get in touch with yourself again, you make new friends (pushing yourself out of your comfort zone), you have zero distractions (from a friend or partner) so you can truly enjoy the location and gain a little confidence embarking on a journey to a new place all by yourself.

Because let’s be real. As much as you want your friends to come with you, sometimes it’s too hard. Between schedules and budgets, it’s difficult to nail down a trip that works for everyone.

Please note, I’m not encouraging you to book a random trip to some shady hostel in the middle of Europe a la the movie, “Taken.” You have to be smart about it and do your research.

Marriott Caribbean and Latin America Resorts just launched a “solo traveler series” with two packages catering to different types of solo travelers. For those looking for some alone time, the “All About Me” package (where you go to the spa, have private fitness classes and a private tour) is for you. For those yearning to make new friends or let loose, I recommend the “Solo & Social” package. (Think insider tips to the best hotspots, group excursions with others who are traveling solo, mixology and cooking classes.) Both packages include 3 nights in a king size room, wifi, transportation to and from the airport, a hotel contact (someone at the front desk checking in on you) and more. It’s pretty sweet.

Above all, traveling solo will help you answer big life questions. I mean it. Between daydreaming on the beach, reading in a private bungalow while it rains, having dinner by yourself, learning a new language and experiencing new adventures, you will discover things about yourself that you never knew. You might attempt to have a conversation in Spanish (i.e. me) because no-one (you know who you are) is around to critique your horrible accent, buy different things (like a cool accessory that you never imagined wearing), think about moving to a different city or take risks, like booking another trip (on a whim) to a new place.

So, with that said, the first property we stayed at was CasaMagna Cancun Resort & Spa, a luxury resort with fantastic service, great amenities, restaurants and outstanding views of the ocean. My favorite part? Leaving my balcony doors opens to hear the waves crash at night.

Here are some of the highlights from our stay…
